You’ve probably seen athletes wearing brightly coloured strips of tape across their shoulders, knees or legs and wondered what it’s actually doing.
Kinesio taping is a technique that uses flexible, elastic tape applied directly to the skin. Unlike traditional rigid sports tape, it’s designed to move with your body rather than completely restrict movement.
Depending on your assessment, I may use kinesio tape to support an area, provide sensory feedback or form part of a broader treatment and rehabilitation plan.
The tape itself isn’t a magic fix. I see it as one of the many tools we can use to support your recovery while we address the reason you’re experiencing discomfort in the first place.
