What Is a Chiropractic Adjustment?

A chiropractic adjustment is a carefully controlled manual technique used to improve the movement of a joint that’s not functioning as well as it should.

People often imagine an adjustment as something dramatic, but it’s actually a very precise procedure. Before recommending any adjustment, I carry out a detailed assessment to determine whether it’s appropriate for your condition.

Not every patient needs an adjustment, and not every joint requires one.

When an adjustment is appropriate, it’s performed using specific direction, speed and gentle force with the aim of improving joint movement and reducing mechanical restriction.

Many patients tell me they feel lighter, freer or more comfortable afterwards, although everyone’s experience is different.

My focus is never on producing a popping sound. It’s on helping your joints move as naturally and comfortably as possible.
