What Is Fascia?

Fascia is a type of connective tissue that surrounds and supports the muscles and other structures throughout your body.

I often describe it as a continuous network rather than lots of completely separate pieces. Your muscles, joints and connective tissues all need to work together when you move.

When an area feels tight, sensitive or restricted, the muscles and surrounding tissues may all be involved.

Understanding this helps me look beyond the exact spot where you feel pain and assess how the surrounding areas are moving too.
