This is one of the questions I’m asked most often, and the answer sometimes surprises people.
There isn’t one mattress that’s best for everyone.
The ideal mattress is one that supports your body comfortably while allowing your spine to remain in a natural position during sleep. A mattress that’s too soft may allow your body to sink unevenly, while one that’s extremely firm isn’t always the answer either.
Your body shape, sleeping position, weight and personal comfort all influence which mattress feels best for you.
If you’ve had your mattress for many years and you’ve started waking with stiffness or discomfort, it may be worth considering whether it’s still providing adequate support.
When patients ask me which mattress to buy, I usually encourage them to choose comfort, quality and support rather than following trends or advertising claims.
